Flamingos for a Cure is an idea that grew from the need for a birthday present for my mother. It quickly grew into a collection of personalized stationery and gifts that would help raise funds to support the men and women who are looking for a cure, those currently in treatment for their cancer and the family members supporting their loved ones impacted by this disease. The fight against breast cancer has a very personal connection to me as both my mother and grandmother are survivors.
20% of the sale of each item in this collection is donated to support these outreach efforts.
Flamingos for a Cure is an annual collection with new designs releasing on or around September 17, my mother’s birthday.

After much deliberation about where we wanted the money to go, research or patient care, we decided on Susan G. Komen ® Northwest NC. Ultimately we decided on patient care and support.
This choice is also very personal for me. While I live in Charlotte, NC and love it here, I am from Winston-Salem, NC. I grew up going to Wake Forest basketball games, went to Salem Academy for high school and spent every other waking moment at Tanglewood riding horses. Plus my family still lives there.
75% of the money they raise locally goes towards their ability to help educate and provide screenings for women in their 11 county community. I was also pleased to learn that much of the money sent out for national research ends up coming back to three of the four medical schools in the state of North Carolina in the form of research grants. I love that the money is staying local to help women in this community get educated, get tested as well as help the researchers who live here work towards a cure.
